Ken Moelis Blesses Bankers to Move Wherever They Want
Title says it all. Do you think it will just apply to big rainmakers or will juniors move away from NYC as well.
Based on a Bloomberg article and interview with Ken Moelis.
It won’t really matter in the end - his analysts won’t be able to escape those 110hr weeks regardless of where they are.

Senior bankers that have proven themselves. At some point, you could see VPs or even experienced Associates being allowed to work more remotely.

I used to work for Moelis (and I've worked at a BB). I actually think the culture there is pretty cool. All you ever hear about is the hours, but there's also a scrappy / underdog element to the culture that's pretty fun and you won't find at bigger banks. Ken is an original thinker. I hope he implements this in full and is rewarded for it. For me personally, this would be huge. I'm jealous.

Work at Moelis now. All I've ever heard anyone above the rank of associate say is how excited they are to get back into the office so they can come directly to you for stuff vs zoom. I don't think this holds beyond some of the senior bankers tbh. Ken said it himself on the Bloomberg interview that new hires and juniors need to be in the office to "immerse in the culture"... and presumably if they're going to be able to do that then there has to be a decent number of people already going into the office
