Lateral from Boutique to MM/BB after 2 Full Years

Currently a second year analyst at a boutique (not EB - firm is small and focused on one industry, deal flow is solid but clients are typically $50mm revenue) and am wondering if it would make sense to lateral to a strong MM / lower BB after I finish my second year.

My ultimate goal is to do MM PE but I am struggling to get any interviews given I come from a non-target and my firm does not have an established pipeline to any PE firms (firm is 10 years old).

I am wondering if it would be a waste of time (and 1-2 years of my life) to lateral to a stronger bank and start as a 2nd year analyst again in an effort to increase my chances of getting a solid MM PE job following my analyst stint.

Any thoughts / advice would be much appreciated. Thanks
