Lawyer regretting not having gone into IB - am I wrong?
Could've done both. And would've done well in both. But feel like IB pays way more than lawyers. Yes am aware that both industries have a wide salary range but I'm talking about those top-tier salaries (but not those gross outliers). I am at a top tier law firm so I know what lawyers get paid. I've been practicing 5 years. So with law school that's like 8 years. But I hear IB/PE associates supposedly getting paid way more than me (at like 4 years out of UG....). Realistically how much do senior VPs or junior EDs typically get paid all-in in IB/PE?
IMO unless you love law I don't see why anyone would go to law school vs. going straight into high finance. Similar comp and didn't have to 1) pay out 6 figures for law school 2) sacrifice earning for the years while in law school
Never to late to jump to IB. Look at Suits.
