What's the deal with this group? I just saw that they snagged the 3B Google/Nest deal and I always hear that the best TMT is at GS/MS.
Don't flame me because I know Lazard is Lazard and one of the few firms comparable to GS/MS, but I thought they were more of a heavy hitter in RX while the others had strong industry groups..

Have heard that their TMT group isn't as strong relative to Laz's other advisory groups (still much stronger than their capital markets groups, which, as everyone knows, is Laz's weakest aspect) and is mostly focused on e-commerce type stuff.
Is the any news or backstory to how they got on googles short list?
From what I understand, LAZ pretty much works on everything Google does > $1B. They did both of Google's largest deals this year and were sole advisers.
They have a decent sized TMT regional office in Boston. Any idea whether or not these deals come through the Boston office or if they only do mm advisory like the other tech banks in Boston?
