Can confirm they do this. Saw an intern get cut for narcotics use (more hard core than THC). Not sure about THC but they don't allow an explanation. Poor kid was shown the door immediately after being checked out

It's detectable in your hair for a multitude of years. One of my friends wanted to be in the FBI, and as part of the requirement was clean hair sample dating back 10 years.

Contrary to what others have said you can get THC out of your system within ~9 months, to the point where you can pass a hair test. Most sources will say it takes a minimum of 1+ years but I have personally done it so, that is not always the case. If you smoked for a couple days in a legal state a few months ago, you have a chance of passing it. There is nothing you can really do to increase your odds (e.g., for a urine test you can workout and drink water like a madman) so I take the test and hope for the best.

If you fail due to THC I would follow up and explain that you were in a state where it was legal many months ago and emphasize you dont do it regularly. Obviously only mention this post-test and if it results in a positive result, otherwise no reason to omit this information.

Testing for THC is dumb when it is legal in multiple states, but Texas is very anti-weed so I could legit see them making a huge fuss over this. Best of luck, sorry you're in this position

The hair testing for THC use over 12 months ago seems a bit extreme for sure. I wonder if this was in response to something, like people toking during WFH, or if it has always been this way.

Hey man sorry to hear about this. Not sure about THC but it's a one and done policy. Echoing above that likely you'll be ok with THC but you don't get to explain anything. I would bring out the hair dye and the apple vinegar. There's a thread on that I just read. Let us know how it goes and the best of luck.

Bleach is your only hope brother. I managed to pass after 3 weeks of no ganja.

I would remove some details here mate.. Not difficult figuring out who you are if people from the relevant office see this

Lincoln does this because they want to make sure you’re not strung out on cocaine or amphetamines and will die on them under stressful situations. They had an intern with a heart issue die on them a few years back and it was a PR nightmare.

That being said I personally know someone who works at Lincoln, smoked about a month before his hair test and then never heard anything about it again. He was not a frequent user so I’m not sure if that could have been flushed from his system in that time (my guess is not) but it sounds like you’ll be fine. They’re even headquartered in Chicago where it’s legal.

That makes a ton of sense. I was just wondering aloud whether or not this policy was enacted as a response to something, given how blanket-ish it sounds. Blanket HR mandates usually happen after something goes badly wrong.
