MBA vs. IBanking hours question from outsider

Hello everyone, from an outsider. I have a very quick fundamental question in regards to acquiring an MBA vs. working analyst hours. 1) How does one attend classes if there is an immediate deal thrown on the table which needs to be worked on in the next 24 hous. Do analysts get the right of way to attend classes ? Do they atend classes on weekends ? Do they study during downtime? How do analysts have the time to even study when sleepwalking through work? Is it better to walk into I Banking as an associate and have school completed. My guess would be it's better to get the experience of an analyst so you know how to do the job and earn your respect the right way. It's kind of a catch 22.

2) Fortunately , I have a relative very very high up in I banking which is willing and able to get me in if I strive for it. I fully understand I'm one lucky individual who would not be offered a job in this field otherwise. I have a Bachelor's in Computer Science and going for a Masters in Finance. I've also worked in Corporate sales and forecasting for 7 years. I already have been through the Corporate Bull sh** process and red tape cut throat NY enviornment and fully get it. I have worked for some of the most gruesome unmarried Marketing nut jobs with severe tunnel vision. It's similar everywhere. Can anyone offer any additional advice for someone in my situation?

3) Do analysts become associates without a Masters or in the middle of a Masters program?

I would also like to comment on how I'm highly impressed with the level of discipline all of you possess at a much earlier age then most people. Some people will never reach this level of discipline in their life - ever. It seems fitting the salaries + bonus which are awarded to all of you for the grueling work. I fully understand how work can suck sometimes but it's impressive how all of you are taking the hits now for a better or more experienced tomorrow. Good stuff. Sorry for the spelling errors. Thanks

You seem to confuse things a little bit.

You are an analyst right out of ugrad and during that 2-3 years , you DO NOT go to school. That would be impossible. After that 2-3 years the very very very best may become an associate without going to an MBA, but 99% of ppl do not take this path. At an MBA program you can build up a network that you could not do anywhere else and this can be very useful down the road.

Thanks IBWannaB I appreciate it. I haven't started my Masters so do you think I should start as an analyst and get the real experience or should I revisit with an MBA as an associate in two to three years? The only reason I ask is because I'm pretty much ready to leave my current job if I could get into IB. I just am trying to figure out the best move.

Also - Do analysts usually leave IB and go for their MBA? Thanks again
