Meeting Bankers During New Year Season... Bad Idea?

Hello all! I will be in NYC for a bit less than the next 2 weeks and hope to get meetings with bankers there. I am a freshman at a non-target at a very small college, aiming to get a Sophomore SA 2025 IBD position. Among my school's alums, only one person is currently in IBD of a BB. I managed to schedule a meeting with him; however, I understand that this is a numbers game, and I cannot hope that one connection with an analyst will help. Would you suggest that it is better to cold email hundreds of bankers right now, even though it is so close to potential meetings? Or should I go with a "quality over quantity" approach and do my very best with the alumnus? Thank you. I appreciate your help!
