Macs are extremely awful for IB, but your firm should provide you with one for compliance purposes. No need to spend your own money, but please never buy a Mac again if you work in finance

Can confirm. My buddy was crushing work all year long and was set up to get a huge bonus but then one day in the kitchen his MD saw him putting disgusting, weakling, value destructive, bottom bucket creamer in his coffee. Within a week he was off all his deals and confined to marketing work purgatory. Don't make his mistake.
