Nomura's Reputation
Hey guys,
Just wondering if anybody has any insights as to Nomura's reputation on the street? I'm interested in PE exits from their traditional coverage groups, so what kinds of PE shops would you suggest looking into and where could I even go coming from Nomura?
Of the coverage, Nomura Greentech has the best exits by far. Otherwise, industrials, maybe TMT, and FIG can land you in a LMM PE or MM PE if you grind a bit. Generally, Nomura doesn’t have the best rep for PE recruiting so it’s a bit more work, but it is dueable.
Any insight on greentech? Seems like a small group
One of the top groups on the street for all renewable energy related matters. One of the few groups at Nomura that can guarantee M&A deals. Very sweaty group.
Greentech, Infrastructure & Industrials (GII) is the strongest coverage group by far. But it's a sweatshop and you most likely will exit to an Infra fund
How’s their Tech coverage team doing?
Their TMT team sits in both SF and NYC. They used to have some solid MDs but I think they left. The team is ok and they do get some dealflow.
Do you know why they left?
In London their tech team was wiped out from what I hear. Lay offs from poor deal flow.
TMT has been having shitty deal flow for over a year. Almost half the team was laid off in NYC
How does Greentech exit? I am asking if MM/UMM/MF? I know it's infrastructure mostly, but wondering how they exit within the infra space?
I have seen some exits to UMM/MF
Can anyone speak to their M&A group?
