Previously worked in corporate finance/ IB, now work in government (and love it) - what are my chances of making money again in a few years?

I worked in the big 4 for 3 years in their M&A advisory team. Went from there to a very reputable small IB boutique (worked on some interesting deals), 1 yr, which is now part of a more well known global bank. Now work at the UK competition authority, help to decide whether to block deals on competition grounds, have already worked on some quite high profile cases and others which are in fascinating specialist markets, discussing global stuff with the European Commission and the American FTC.

It’s great and I absolutely love my current role and hope to make it to assistant director (one below senior civil service) pretty soon/ whenever it comes up. I’ve got the idea of an MBA in the back of my mind in case I want to make money again one day, but definitely want to keep doing this for a few more years.

Do you guys think I might be able to make some money again, if I feel it’s needed, without an MBA? E.g. I could maybe do some consulting/ work in ESG investing/ keep in touch with my banking/ PE friends and join one of their startups as a finance person? (I know that’s a very broad set of options…!)

Thanks very much for your insights.
