Product Management to IB?

I'm a Sr. Business Line Manager (product owner) at a F500 tech company, BSEE and MBA from non-target schools, 28 years old, and interested in switching to investment banking at the Associate level. I have received plenty of quality advice on how to prep and network to get in; what I'm really looking for is anyone who has made a similar move or has any related insight.

I understand it's not a common path, so it would be great to hear some experience here. My primary motivators are much higher salary ranges through the next 20 years of my career, a career that's more dependent on relationships and communication skills for success (thinking of how a VP or MD is successful, sounds incredibly relational-based), and I don't mind working longer hours if the compensation supports it.

Appreciate any feedback!
