Qatalyst hires top CS tech bankers

http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/04/21/quat…

Frank Quattrone's boutique Qatalyst has hired George Boutros and Jason DiLullo from CS. Boutros was head of tech banking and DiLullo was head of US tech M&A.

Thoughts? This seems like a huge blow to CS tech.

Small note - DiLullo was co-head of US tech M&A, not sole head (credit Dealbook).

It will be interesting to see CS tech's next moves here - there were rumors that Boutros was drawing a rather large paycheck from CS partially to keep him from jumping to Qatalyst. With all that payroll freed up, and CS as a whole coming out of the recession very strong, I wouldn't be surprised to see some hitter lateral hires at that level.

That said, it is definitely a blow - not too many deal-makers have articles written about them in mainstream media (though it's a bit dated, 2003): http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.03/boutros_pr.html

Go NativeCS tech was never that good to begin with - always third to GS and MS.

Do you have any idea how stupid you sound with that statement? That's like saying Dwayne Wade "was never that good" because he was always third to Lebron and Kobe. Do yourself a favor, go splash cold water on your GS/MS hard-on.

This seems to be a major problem among many undergrad students on WSO, outside of GS/MS, the other bulge's and their respective groups are not inferior investment banking experiences. That being said, CS has one of the better Tech groups on the street. Please stop spreading retarded information, it's like Syphilis, it spreads from one douchebag to the next at an alarming rate. Hence the predicament we find ourselves in right now.
