Recruiting outside of usual locations

Hi. I'm currently a University of Chicago sophomore, and unsurprisingly, it seems that most of the BB banks and major consulting firms that recruit here mainly hire for Chicago and NYC offices. I'm from Atlanta, GA, and would absolutely love to spend a summer internship in my hometown. I know it would be a satellite location, but if I were fortunate enough to get a high-end internship this summer, would it be possible to work in any ATL office? Any way I could work the contract around an NYC/Chicago office to an ATL office?

You would probably have to go through the Atlanta office directly. As far as large banks go, Blackstone and BarCap have offices in the city. I am sure some others do as well. Not sure if any of these places would be taking on interns. Your best bet for Atlanta is to look for a spot at STRH, VRA, HLHZ or some other middle market boutique.

I'd definitely be willing to do a Chicago/NYC office, but would prefer to work in Atlanta all other things equal. It's just that I kinda would rather work and live there, if I were to ultimately receive a full-time offer. Also, cost of living adjusted, is there reason to believe that the NYC or Chicago offices would pay higher/lower than an Atlanta office?
