Resume Question -- Deal name or deal value?

Folks,

I am running into an issue that I think a bunch of you can help me with.

I have worked on some sizeable deals that did not announce the deal and some others that are smaller but announced the deal but did not disclose the deal amount. Which one should I be using on my resume?

ex: "Advised on a $500MM tech M&A deal" (large deal with no deal announcement) v. "Advised Apple (NYSE: APPL on tech M&A deal" (smaller deal with deal announcement)

Note: the company I would be disclosing is not as well known as Apple.

So i guess the root of this question is whether the deal value matters more, or the ability to search and see it.

Thanks

Not sure if I understand your question entirely, but... If a deal was not publicly announced in some sort of press release by either the bank or the client, I would refrain from using the company name unless you've been given permission to do so. If a deal was publicly announced, but the deal terms were kept private, then obviously listing the deal amount could constitute a breach of confidentiality. I will assume you know all of this, so...

I would lean towards listing the bigger (presumably sell-side) deal. Also, I would be wary of using the term "advised" unless you are close to an MD-level position in your organization. I think, "Contributed to the successful sale of...", followed by bullet points detailing your role in the process would be more appropriate.

As a side note: What kind of advisory work did your firm do for Apple? Obviously you didn't run a sell-side process for them, so I'm just curious.

Just to clarify:

if i were to use the bigger deal, I would not put any names.

If I were to use the smaller deal, I would put the names but not disclose the deal value.

So in essence, I am asking which is better, to have a bullet with names and no value or to have a bullet with a dollar amount (on the larger side) with no names.

regarding Apple, I am just using that as an example, no deal done with them.
