SA Help

Hi all,

I have been a long time reader of this forum and it has helped me a great deal up to this point. I am wondering if i could get some help from all you monkeys on getting an idea of the differences between a few SA opportunities i have.

I go to a west coast school, but am originally from the UK. I have had final round interviews with: UBS LA, Houlihan Restructuring LA, BNP NY, UBS London and CS London.

After much consideration i am favoring very heavily CS in London, BNP in NY and Houlihan Res. I have an offer with BNP but am still waiting on CS and Houlihan.

Should i get all of them, what SA job ranks as the top choice in terms of great experience? Will going to a bigger player like CS or BNP give me better FT choices should i choose not to stay with the bank after the summer?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated

If it were me:

  1. UBS LA
  2. UBS London or CS London (don't know much about CS London, but I know UBS is a lot stronger abroad than it is in the States)
  3. HLHZ LA
  4. BNP NY

UBS LA is the most prestigious on your list. BNP is a relatively weak shop, and won't give you as many opportunities FT. HLHZ is great at what they do, and restructuring is arguably their strongest point, but a BB name will still open more doors for you (if you plan on participating in FT recruiting).

Thanks for the insight... to be honest i haven't even been considering UBS LA because I've heard a lot of bad things about their office recently. I will definitely look more seriously at them.

Do you think that working in a financial capital like London for a major European bank outweighs many of the benefits of working somewhere like UBS LA? I can imagine that the deal flow in London is much heavier right now when compared to LA.
