Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) worked as an analyst for GS?
I was bored and looking around at Sacha Baron Cohen's(known for his roles playing Borat, Ali G etc) Wikipedia article. Apparently, according to the article, he was an analyst for Goldman Sachs before he went on to pursue his comedic career.
I just thought it was funny that the guy who everyone knows as Borat is a former IB analyst for non other than GS.
discuss
He was an equity Trader for GS in London

Anybody can change content in Wikipedia... this must be false.
Definitely false...he was a history major at Cambridge, and I think he was torn between grad work and comedy. I never heard anything about him working for GS (or any other i-bank, for that matter).
Probably smart enough to, though.
100% sure it was true, seen it many times in papers such as the NY Times.
Well, it might be true. Assuming the "Independent" is a good source?
he worked at both jpmorgan and goldman sachs before becoming borat
So what if he did? Does that make you want to work there even more? any less? Is that further testament to GS's prowess?
just shows all of those worried about exit ops(some even before they start an internship), that there are indeed many choices and forks in the road.
...not only the PE/VC, bank to you drop route.
quant analyst i think
of course it is, it's only further testament to the fact that GS is the greatest bank ever and all the others are shit.
GS probably offered him a job if he promised to share some of his profits from his major motion pictures too, they're that damn good.
I doubt Mr. Cohen is the only History student from Cambridge at an IBank in London. There's a lot to be said for "numerical" degrees, but the Oxbridge title still weighs heavily.
Note: I don't work in the industry, but I'm basing this on the universities that people I interviewed alongside attend.
probably a bunch of shit
Yes Sacha Baron Cohen graduated with a first from Cambridge and worked at Goldman Sachs. This has been published in numerous reputable newspapers as the above poster noted.
No seriously, the guy is a genius.
edit
Cambridge I believe, but not GS - produce the article and then we'll talk.
aadpepsi already provided link to Independent--look towards top of thread and press on the linked word.
The independent? Please - they probably got their shit from Wikipedia- let's see a NYT article and then I'll believe it.
why is it so hard to believe that he worked for GS? I guess some people really do think you have to be of super human intelligence to work at the sachs.
The dude graduated from Cambridge, going to GS is not much of a stretch from there.
He's a fucking genius. I wouldn't doubt for a second he worked at GS. But the smartest thing he ever did was give up a shitty GS lifestyle to do what he really wanted to ... a lesson to some of the more hardcore monkeys on here ?
He's very smart and his cousin is a professor at Cambridge now. I thought everyone knew that Sacha Baron Cohen went to Cambridge, so the GS thing is not very surprising.
John Legend worked at BCG after graduating from Penn. Does this really have any influence on who applies there? I hope not--it's stupid.
i thought u were being sarcastic but

John is a 26-year-old native of Springfield, Ohio. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1999, with a degree in English, concentrating in African-American Literature and Culture.
Upon graduation, John spent 3 years as an Associate at the Boston Consulting Group, working in the Boston and New York offices. He then went on to direct the Career Planning & Job Placement Program at Management Leadership for Tomorrow, a program whose aim is to prepare minority college students for careers in business (www.ML4T.org).
In his spare time, John was building his career as a musician. He built his career as a solo performer in clubs along the East Coast and as a session musician and co-writer with such artists as Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, Slum Village, Janet Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Dilated Peoples, Common, Talib Kweli, and many more.
In May 2004, John was signed to Columbia/Sony Records via Kanye West's label Getting Out Our Dreams (GOOD Music). Upon his signing, John quickly put together his debut album, Get Lifted.
The album, released on Dec 28, 2004, has been in the top 10 on the Billboard album charts for 11 out of the 12 weeks since its debut. It has sold over a million copies worldwide and garnered rave reviews from nearly every major publication, receiving 5 out of 5 stars in Vibe, 4 out 5 stars in Rolling Stone, A- in Entertainment Weekly, 3 1/2 out 4 stars in People and 3 1/2 out of 4 stars in USA Today. He has been nominated for Best New Artist by both the Soul Train Awards and the NAACP Image Awards. He also had the honor of performing at the 2005 Grammys with Kanye West, Mavis Staples and the Blind Boys of Alabama.
He is currently on tour opening for Alicia Keys across the country, and he will headline his own tour in the US, Japan, Australia, and Europe this summer.
Haha why would I make that up? He's one of my favorite singers. He's got the whole package...my dream man :)
Saw a documentary on the BBC on Ali G, def Cambridge History then GS. He was also the host on a show for kids and on some kind of soft pron show after that.
will smith got into MIT didn't he? But he choose to pursue rap instead.
Yeah, he apparently got a full ride too
John Legend... he's a hottie. I'm listening to "We just don't care"... I love PDAs!
BTW, interesting he worked at BCG and moved on to music. Gives me hope I will quite my f'n job and do something creative...
I saw John Legend in concert on Saturday and I had no idea he went to Penn and worked in anything other than the music industry. John Legend is awesome.
Where did he play this weekend?
