Series 79

I’m taking the series 79 next Tuesday. Does anyone have any advice, I’ve been doing the Knopman Marks generated Qbank exams and have been averaging an 80-82. I don’t know if it’s because I know the info or just know the questions. I took the diagnostic albeit heavily distracted while taking it and managed to get a 68%. Should I worry or do I seem to be the on the right track?

You're doing much better than I was, and you're likely already prepared. I only completed 500 questions (I had 4 days to prepare) and most practice tests I got between 72 - 80%. I was sweating hard when I clicked the submit button because there weren't as many of unit 2 questions, and most were longer, so I am sure I was cutting close to 73%, but somehow passed. My advice would be to just make sure you remember all the rules, understand everything, and keep doing practice questions for confidence. I also know someone else who was getting 70% and less on knopman exams, and still managed to pass, so you should 100% be able to easily pass

You're good. I remember averaging 75 on Knopman and still passed both 79 and 63

Lmao Knopman tests are great for studying but bad proxy for test score due to wide variability in questions. Took SIE, 63, and 79 with them all this summer. For 79 was testing 60-70% for 1000+ practice Qs and same for diagnostics and passed easily. Real test felt much easier/straightforward than knopman tests. You will be fine.

How did 63 feel? I have been getting 80 - 85% consistently (started preparing yesterday), but pretty scared still since I only have 2 days to prepare

Personally found 63 to be way easier than 79. There were about 20 Qs on the 63 that were freebies requiring no thought. Didn’t feel like the 79 had anywhere close to as many “freebies”. With 2 days, just get up to 700+ questions but 85% is more than fine

Just passed.

Didn’t get over a 61 on practice tests and didn’t watch the videos, just did 1200 Qs and read KM’s study flash email or whatever.

Maybe I got lucky but rather be lucky than fail

I wanna say this to someone in my shoes maybe like 3 days ago. I took the S79 yesterday and passed.

Just a few notes about looking on the internet about testing:

  • Bias: Most people who pass go on with their day and do not ever come back to the forums, so you see overwhelmingly negative/scared comments about testing.
  • Focus on yourself and your progression. It's the best metric for YOUR success.

I studied over the course of three weeks while on the desk. Definitely a couple of weeks in there where I struggled to get sufficient studying in with some heavy workload days.

Overall:

  • TRUST KNOPMAN MARKS - they will get you to the finish line
    • I got a 61 on Diagnostic 1, 69 on Diagnostic 2, and 61 on Benchmark
  • The Exam was significantly easier than Knopman Marks in my opinion
  • Definitely focus on timeline, research, M&A advisor roles
  • READ THOSE EMAIL KEY CONCEPT UPDATES - I could answer so many questions from just reading the email updates Knopman sent me.

Good luck, take deep breaths, and you'll be fine.

finished mine this morning, I would say don’t focus on the higher level stuff (WACC, beta etc). I got a few questions for like inventory turnover and ROA etc. Focus on those and you’ll be good bro
