In my experience, associates and VP's tend to be the hardest technically. Director's and MD's tend to focus on fit / behavioral, however, I've been asked technical questions from people at all levels, including the head of IB at a regional office.
Agree, my hardest technical interview was with a hardo VP, so be ready just in case. Depends on the bank and the person obviously.
Director and MD should hopefully not be technical, all of my interviews at this level were behavioral and more conversational in nature. These guys talk to people for a living, so they want to make sure you can hold a conversation.
Wait seriously???? You're joking. Super days already? How is that even possible? If I'm on the west coast maybe looking to relocate to NYC, is it too late?

The only time I got technicals from someone above VP was an D/ED in sales & trading. Otherwise in IB, technicals came from associates and VPs. MDs usually just assess for fit/personality (“do I like this kid”), and just high level motivation/rationale for job and team type questions.
