Switch from Corporate Rating to Investment Banking
Hey All,
Just wanted to know of how common it is to move from corporate ratings at the big 2 rating firms into IB later down the line? I would be working in an industry group (not resource or FIG based so no pigeonhole) and the group is headquartered in US.
I have been told they train you very well and IBs value that. Additionally, you spend a lot of time meeting with management, building detailed models, and that all seems very transferable. Lastly, I think the added focus on risk and the criteria CR firms use to calculate it is something that is valuable that you can bring with you if you move to an IB. Please feel free to correct me if you think I'm wrong, additionally, If you know of someone who has made the move or have any thoughts or advice, it would be highly appreciated. Thanks!
