Thoughts on PWP NY office?
What is the general outlook for the firm and what are the best groups? I have heard great things but want some insight.

Current analyst in the NY office. General outlook for the firm is neutral-positive, PWP's been focused on bolstering its senior team across the board and expanding across all levels, but once again deal flow is very dependent on the seniors like most boutiques, and momentum varies by year. Analyst experience is highly variable across groups and even within groups. Some groups where deal flow isn't as good have super chill cultures. In the larger and more busy groups, often a few analysts get staffed on the bulk of the work and get a lot of deal reps in at the cost of WLB, while other analysts are able to relatively coast by. Seniors are highly variable as well. Some seniors really care about mentoring the juniors and are genuinely the best people I've come across in banking, other seniors don't care that much, and there are also a small subset of seniors who aren't great people.
I feel like a greater number of analysts at PWP go A2A than a lot of other boutiques, primarily the analysts who weren't staffed on everything who were working under the MDs that cared about them. The hardo analysts who got staffed on everything and killed their WLB during their analyst stints got great exits, primarily UMM and also a handful of MF. The non-hardo analysts who didn't want to go A2A placed very well across MM PE (a degree of self-selection) as well as some UMM PE.
Any thoughts on the different industry groups and RX? Will be going through placement for FT.
also an analyst in NY--very accurate take
edit: meant to reply to the post above^
How many hours per week on average? Am working at a LMM as a SA and WLB is pretty good compared to BB/EB, with relatively similar comp.
I think it is a one of the better places to gain broad exposure, work with solid people, and make good money as an analyst. PWP is a strong and growing firm that’ll provide whatever exits you work for (as noted above). I know many people who have chosen PWP over similar banks (Lazard, Moelis, PJT, and even large BBs) and have been happy with their experience, exits, and most importantly, culture.
While the year to year, or day to day, can be more volatile at independent than BBs, I’d prefer the independent advisory structure across m&a/Rx.
10/10 would choose this shop over 90-95% of banks (can only speak for NYC).
Strong groups in no particular order: Media & Telecom; Industrials - NYC has strong forestry and paper & packaging, Aerospace and Defense also added a Partner from Lazard; and RX. Technology M&A franchise is relatively small but gaining momentum and also expanding in the east coast for which they hired a new partner in NYC who was the Co-Head of European Technology at GS.
Is this a joke? Healthcare is the strongest at PWP
All the teams are solid and place very well, excluding tech/M&T (at the moment).
Anyone have any insights about the PWP London office?
One of the strongest Independent Advisory firms in Europe. Robust Industrials M&A.
Thank you! Are they mainly strong in Industrials or would other groups be worth joining too?

That’s every bank
Any updates on the group?
Are they exiting to other firms in the industry or going to HF?
No one left for HF, some quit outright for other non banking opps, a couple of laterals, etc
Thanks for the monkey shit?
How's the LA office? Heard they've been growing that out, and looking to maybe make a return to the west coast.
What are top groups in NY. I know there is C&R, HC, RX, Industrials, FinTech, FIG, and Capital Markets Advisory. What would best be for WLB and best for exits? @PWP Analysts?
C&R is a lifestyle group. The analysts at PWP call it that themselves lol. HC is the sweatiest
Perella is very good in New York. Did they lose talent to ducera?
PWP filed lawsuits against Ducera around 2015-16 for IP theft. Several Partners who were leading the RX group left PWP to start Ducera and PWP did not take that lightly.
Does PWP London also have a good Consumer & Retail Team or are they mainly good at Industrials?
What about SF? I know everyone here shits on it but have been hearing good things recently
