what are people's updated views on pwp tech group in sf? i'm wondering about deal flow, exit opps, wlb, culture, and prestige.

Im a student at another EB in sf but I’ve heard very good things about culture. Prestige is good as they have added another partner from CVP focused on software.

in terms of exits, I know they have sent people to TPG, Francisco Partners, and EQT. I think maybe someone should chime in here that knows more.

Within the tech banking scene in sf they’re beneath GS, ms, Q, evr, and probably JPM too. Though they do exit well (at times, not sure if it’s a sure thing) which I think can be attributed to partners making crucial phone calls during on/off-cycle to buddies at funds so their analysts place well, group perception improves, which in turn can evolve into better deal flow and better reputation down the line.

thanks for the info, seems like they had someone go to ivp this year too which is crazy. do you know how large their sa class sizes generally are?

curious as to why so many people in the SF office do a2a or go to the buyside and come back. Obviously A2A rate is relatively high too in the NY office, but seems disporpotionately high in SF.
Saw 3 people that went to good buyside firms and came back ~12 months of their new gig.

You’re smart to notice this, now think about how great a team it is if people are leaving solid buyside shops to come back to banking…
