TPH SA 2025 (Houston)

Just got first round notification from TPH -- says the interview will be through Dartmouth Partners. Does anyone have experience with Dartmouth / TPH?

I know it's a mix of behaviorals and technicals but given that DP is a third party, I was wondering to what extent they'd be able to "push" you during an interview. Any advice is appreciated.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you can expect and some advice for your TPH SA interview through Dartmouth Partners:

  • Behavioral Questions: Be prepared to discuss your resume, why you're interested in energy investment banking, and why TPH specifically. Reflect on your experiences and be ready to articulate what you've learned from them and how they've prepared you for a career in IB.

  • Technical Questions: You should have a solid grasp of financial modeling, valuation techniques (DCF, comps, precedents), and be able to walk through an M&A or LBO model if asked. Since TPH specializes in energy, expect some technical questions related to the sector, such as understanding oil & gas metrics and valuation in the energy space.

  • Dartmouth Partners' Role: As a third-party recruiter, Dartmouth Partners will likely assess your fit for the role and ensure you meet the basic qualifications before passing you on to the next round. They may not push as hard on technicals as TPH's own team would, but you should still be prepared for a rigorous interview.

  • Advice: Treat the interview as if you were speaking directly with TPH. Be professional, articulate, and demonstrate your passion for the industry. It's also a good idea to research Dartmouth Partners and understand their interview style, as this can help you prepare more effectively.

Remember, the key is to be well-prepared, confident, and to show that you're genuinely interested in TPH and the energy sector. Good luck!
