Treasury Payment Solutions - Good?

Recently found out about the Treasury and Payment Solutions group within Capital Markets, is this a good group to do an internship in (sales intern?) trying to learn more about the work and exit opps/transferable skills

Treasury groups at firms focus on making financial and strategic decisions for the company, monitoring cash inflows and outflows, deciding how to raise financing and hedging against risks such as currency risk, and other risks that can have an adverse impact on the business.

In a Treasury Payment Solutions group, you'll probably learn a lot about swaps, repos, short-term to mid-term financing provided to companies. I don't think there's too much modeling here, it'll be more strategy based and the learning will be more towards pitching products/strategies to clients, creating RFPS and presentations of the bank's products/services that can provide a benefit to the client.

This role won't exactly give you a smooth transition to traditional IBD, you'll have to craft a story about why you want to switch.

From a group like Treasury Payment Solutions, if you have a good reputation and are working in a good culture, you could probably move around internally to DCM, ECM, sales and trading is also possible (might be a little bit of a stretch). Because this is a front office role, if you're likeable and the above points hold, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to break into other traditional front office roles within your bank like IBD, etc.

The traditional exits would be to treasury arms of companies, such as the Treasury Arm of Toyota where you'll help the company with raising financing/investing and other strategic decisions related to running the company.
