Two bankers pick same time for networking call

I sent emails at the beginning of the week. Two bankers just replied, wanting to do the same time, so now I have to reply to one of them that I am now unavailable at that time. How do I do this? I am nervous because it will obviously piss one of them off.

If I'm sending emails to 50 bankers at the beginning of the week, some of them are going to have overlapping windows.

What would you recommend me to do to fix this situation? One of the bankers had his assistant schedule the call, so I could email the assistant about the time change and he might not know.

Yeah I usually try to stagger as much as I can. So I won't send 50 on Monday, I'll send 10. Then a few will reply to schedule over the next 2 days, and then I'll send 10 more Wednesday giving windows I still have open. Rinse and repeat.

Right now tho, I'd reschedule with the lower ranking banker. If he has an assistant because he's an MD, I'm not sure I'd switch his time vs. an analyst or something, but up to you

Tell the one at the weaker bank that you have a coffee chat with a stronger bank and that he has to offer you a better time to make up for the difference in prestige. Don't see how it could go wrong

Lol. I'm just going to email the banker's assistant and hope the banker does not see the email lol, and I'll say something about a doctor's appointment

Reschedule the one you want to work at less. Simple “Hi {Name}, I apologize but something has come up on my end during that time, but I’m available any time after {Time} on the same day if that works for you. If not, I am available {time window that you actually prioritize} on {Insert days of the week}. Thanks, {your name}.

Don’t make it a big deal, just respond ASAP so it doesn’t look like you’re blowing them off last minute - that’s annoying.

Sounds good, thanks for your help! The call is scheduled for a week away so hopefully he won't get too pissed

Thanks! This helps a lot in making me feel better. I just sent the email and hopefully it doesn't ruin my chances

Lol, just had this happen with an MD and Global Group Head. I actually asked the group head to reschedule as he's alum and notoriously nice whereas the MD was a cold connection.

Obviously, if it's an MD and an analyst reschedule with the analyst. Not sure if there is a right or wrong in these situations, just be respectful and polite.

lmaoooo no cap.

Update: I emailed one to reschedule and he replied in like 10 minutes with another time so we all good.
