This is why UBS’ strategy is hiring 50% non-Americans for analyst and associate level. They actively discriminate against Americans so they can pay $25k bonuses to H1Bs and underpay and undercut the fair market wages. The only junior “talent” UBS retains are the people who can’t leave due to visa issues.
I heard they were budgeting the 150k H1b fee out of the bonus pool, kept the numbers paid out lower.
firm would rather spend 150k on new H1b internationals from india that they can order around as lowly paid slaves then pay americans proper wall street bonuses(and risk they lateraling).
None of these seniors value any of the junior talent. They see you all as more whiney and needy AI bots, or like 10% better than just having India do everything

This is just not true lol... almost if not all the internationals are graduates from US colleges, meaning there is no 100k fee
At least get your facts right before you fear monger
For the GB 2023 analyst class, they deferred the start date for half the incoming analysts by 7 months. UBS discriminated based on citizenship status to make sure internationals started on time and only Americans got deferred.
They hired foreigners first in the 2023 class and pushed Americans into 2024 starts. If that doesn’t tell you that UBS hates all Americans than nothing will
Genuine question from someone who does comp for a decent number of people at a competitor
What’s the context they are giving for these numbers? I realize UBS did terribly performance wise but what rationale are they giving people? These are appalling numbers
I heard even Senior associates who came over with the Barclays bros got guarantees, there wasn’t a lot of bonus pool once the guarantees were all accounted for
Most likely answer is probably $0. I believe any given year about 50%+ of MDs are non-net revenue generators, but all are “really close” to a couple $10bn sell sides... Or at least that’s the story Marco hears
The lowest out of any group I’ve heard. They hired dozens of seniors so allegedly there is not much left in the pool. Its leadership views all juniors as very replaceable so no need to pay them a good bonus
UBS seems to be making up for bad top line numbers by aggressively decreasing junior comp. It’s a win-win, increases short term profitability and helps push out the weakest hands who are only in it for comp
It’s tough to distinguish here given at UBS VPs are called directors and directors are called executive directors
Regardless, seems like the top individuals in each broad level (so directors as a whole, not D1, D2) got really taken care of and everyone else got fucked

Guess the non-revenue generating ex Barclays MDs ate the bonus. Better luck next time!
Barclays gang knows this is likely their last year at UBS so might as way hoard as much of the bonus pull to yourselves as possible
they're on guarantees
MD fee split here is low, anyone want to share numbers?

Can confirm, got deferred and everyone on my team that wasn’t fit this description
They hired foreigners first in the 2023 class and pushed Americans into 2024 starts. If that doesn’t tell you that UBS hates all Americans than nothing will
UBS hates Americans and loves H1Bs
Make sure to tip MV! I hear 15-20% is the standard tip to MV nowadays

My associate 1s are getting paid more than their VP1s (and there are people paying better than us this year)

Who got a guarantee when they lateral over to ubs
I heard even Senior associates who came over with the Barclays bros got guarantees, there wasn’t a lot of bonus pool once the guarantees were all accounted for
It’s crazy how it just keeps getting worse and worse
The firm is run by literal Barclays trash, the worst of the worst at Barclays ~3 years ago. How did you all expect this would go?

Brought in imaginary take privates and profiles of companies other banks are selling

How were the bonuses in the tech group?
The lowest out of any group I’ve heard. They hired dozens of seniors so allegedly there is not much left in the pool. Its leadership views all juniors as very replaceable so no need to pay them a good bonus
For reference, what are the As1/As2/As3 base salaries?
Believe it’s $175/$200/225
Been the same for at least 4 years I’ve been there, no Cola
makes sense - anything below $75k on top of that is pretty pathetic. But hey, on the bright side, you guys are not getting paid in canadian rupees...
These bonuses are no better than BofA. UBS is an ever sinking ship. I recc everyone quit asap, which is what they want anyway
I think it’s actually worse than bofa this year

When you realize that most MDs on guar comp are clearing $2M and group heads are clearing $5M
Are these numbers being posted real? They are worse than anything Ive ever seen
They literally aren’t real
Agree they are hard to believe but it was a pretty rough year in my group, we didn’t win anything meaningful
Cant confirm all of these, but I’ve heard numbers around these
I believe these numbers. Seen something similar at BOA with my own eyes and ears.
They make a lot of sense when you consider the bonus pool was already allocated to guarantees and the bank did no deals.
UBS seems to be making up for bad top line numbers by aggressively decreasing junior comp. It’s a win-win, increases short term profitability and helps push out the weakest hands who are only in it for comp
lol….everyone is in it just for comp…

BofA numbers look like this. They getting a good competitor from UBS in trash comp.
They arent this bad lol
Wonder if any of the associates or VP will quit. These seem like disgraceful numbers.
Any numbers for their global market?

22k bonus not bad imo considering these 3rd year associates bonuses range from 45-70k
As a janitor I only work 40 hours a week, yet made more bonus than many of these bozos.
This firm is a joke, and embarrassing to Wall Street. Setting a lower standard every year.
UBS office facilities team (toilet cleaner), $400 bonus (50% cash 50% shares)
4 yr cliff vest on those shares?
Pre GFC bankers died for our bonus
UBS beat earnings. Surely this should be a decent sign in the short term?
