UBS IBD Summer Anlayst (UK) interview - unexpected

TLDR; Have one more Investment Banking video interview (UBS modern hire) for a summer position but am heavily underprepared and it is my last chance to get something in IB. Not sure how to prepare and don't want to ruin my only chance.

I checked LinkedIn to see if UBS offers have been out but have only seen people who did spring weeks with UBS received summer internship offers but no one else from my understanding so I am not sure if they've actually filled up their position (I waited nearly a month before UBS gave me the video interview invite if that helps). I did think it is very late in the process for anywhere to still be open. I also checked the Bristol tracker and it stated that offers are already out so I am unsure.

I would love to work with UBS and have my first experience in Investment Banking.

If it’s the same as OC, it’s a Sonru, and the only non-behavioural question was to talk about a deal you found interesting. Best of luck

What does OC mean?

Is the deal meant to be UBS specific? I know it’s a dumb question but I find it quite hard to find current deals that UBS are doing specifically. Only find some from the past.

Quite sorry to burst your bubble here. Was in a similar position to you the first time I got my UBS video interview. It's pretty much still a preliminary stage - you've met the minimum requirements and had a not-terrible application. Still heavy competition from here on. There could easily be 2 more rounds at least.

With video interviews, whether Hirevue or Sonru, you're never going to be told how many questions, what type of questions or pretty much anything else. Heck knowing how long the answer slot is isn't a given before actually doing it.

Normally for any video interview, they're going to focus on motivational, behavioural, commercial awareness - they're trying to thin out the chaff here, not grill you. Pretty rare to get a "technical question" but it does happen occasionally.

FYI I'd be VERY surprised if the UBS summer internship wasn't nearly full by now. I know my BBs summer was full before Christmas. Lots of people (in fact the vast majority) do not post about their offers on LinkedIn.

That’s what I thought and assumed it was given to everyone. I was just slightly confused when it came to getting an invite more than a month after doing the OIA so I thought they might still be recruiting.

Ok thank you so much! I’ll try and figure it out. Morgan Stanley asked me mostly technical like walkthrough a DCF, etc, for 4 out of 5 of the questions so I was confused.

I’m pretty certain they’ve filled up. UBS has had their offers out for ages according to the tracker but I was very confused why they invited me to the next stage if they are already filled up? I’ll do it anyway and I’m also recruiting for consulting firms which are going very well but really did like the thought of Investment Banking.

Do it properly, some people may have reneged their offers so UBS could be looking to fill these spots or they are seeing activity picking up (which is unlikely imo) so they are increasing headcount. Worst case it's a good practice exercise
