Will UBS acquire Credit Suisse?

JPMorgan Chase analysts led by Kian Abouhossein are among those saying the bank’s troubles are most likely to end in its takeover, probably by UBS.

UBS Group and Credit Suisse Group are opposed to a forced combination, even as scenario planning for a government-orchestrated tie-up continues, say people with knowledge of the matter.

UBS CEO Ralph Hamers on Wednesday declined to answer any “hypothetical” questions about Credit Suisse and only said he’s “focused on our own strategy”.

In my view, more probable a split of CS, between wealth management branch (the real money maker here) and the IB and other divisions… then these last ones will be acquired by an other competitor (including UBS)

Idk how it is misleading. UBS said they would aquire Credit Suisse - check the news. There was also a question mark at the end of that "UBS to acquire Credit Suisse?" as in - let's have a discussion about it.

Given their wealth-centric focus, most probable scenario here will be UBS acquiring CS domestic & WM arm (offering the most synergies). CS IB will likely be spun-off assuming FINRA and SNB can’t get UBS to buy CS as a whole with M Klein looking for third party buyers (there were articles ealier this Feb ab Apollo being interested among other investors).

Interesting times.
