Uchicago undegrad

Hello everyone,

I am an incoming freshman at Uchicago (undegrad), and would like to ask for advice for my time here.

As an international student, is it that much harder to break into ib as I need my visa sponsored or does it not matter for big banks as much? and does gpa matter more than certain courses I have taken or is it to better push myself and do the harder courses here? I know clubs matter a decent chunk but what else can be done to separate myself from the bunch here? sports possibly could matter and networking with the Booth mba grads? What about business frats and what econ specialisation would you suggest doing?

fellow intl student at uchicago, yes it is that much harder. out of the (now) 8 BBs, only bofa, gs, db sponsor, and from what ik db is trying to downsize its ib operations. a few other EBs/MMs/balance sheet banks sponsor. all in all, i would say being intl means u dont have a chance at 70% of banks
