What do you learn in a SA stint?

During your 10 weeks, what do you learn (answer in detail if possible please)?

Can you fully do a model from scratch? What goes into the model? Do you learn about structuring a deal, etc? What really do you learn in the end, that you didn't know in the beginning?

Depends on bank/program and each individual. Yes, I think it is possible to learn all of those things. Those are all good, important skills for the job. Hopefully you will also learn about the job and see if it is something you want to do for a couple of years or so

How to use Google (not being funny). The main thing you do as an SA is Research, Research and tons of research which is then used in pitches, models, etc.

You learn what an analyst actually does on the day to day (at least part of what an analyst does) like putting together profiles, pulling research / public information, turning comments, etc. As an intern you’ll be doing some pretty basic stuff / the stuff that the analysts don’t want to do when they’re busy with more urgent / complicated asks.

This + some very very basic parts of modelling if you're a summer associate. But yeah, mostly research and grunt work nobody wants to do like re-creating charts from equity research reports that have no numbers on (read: use ruler to estimate), finding product images, icons and logos, etc.
