Would the CFA help me get an IB interview?
I went to a non target school and would be applying to an analyst program in NYC. I have had great success completing 4 acquisitions in a corporates finance role worth a combined 28 million. In terms of financial modeling and case interviews I fell 100% confident. I believe I will be dinged for the lack luster school however. I am thinking the CFA would make up for my lack luster school reputation. Am I wrong? Will they care at all?
Are you planning to go into Deal Advisory?
In that case, CFA won’t be helpful, even though that some concepts are applicable to M&A, CFA is oriented to Asset Management/Trading roles rather than M&A.
I am in a similar situation as you and the best advice is to gain experience in deal advising and do a top MBA in the future.
