88% Of Americans Say U.S. Is On Wrong Track

https://www.forbes.com/sites/darreonnadavis/2022/…

“A stunning 88% of Americans now believe the U.S. is on the wrong track and just 10% believe it is on the right track, according to a new poll from the Monmouth University Polling Institute, marking an all-time low for the question.”

Makes perfect sense. Left wingers think the Supreme Court being hijacked, mass shootings, lack of universal healthcare, etc. has our country going in the wrong direction. Right wingers think cancel culture, deterioration of nuclear family unit, left wing bias, Biden being president, etc. has our country going in the wrong direction.

Same conclusion, vastly different reasons. Both sides blame the other side, corporations and the elite get fatter and richer as the plebs fight amongst themselves. America.

When you do not give a vote to a potential supreme court justice for some bullshit reason, it is not much different from packing the court.

The natural evolution of a multiracial, multi-religious society. Entirely predictable and will continue.

I’m multi-racial and come from a family with multiple religions. Am I headed in the wrong direction? And I destined to fail? Am I the reason the US is failing?

It isn't destined.  However, the way elections work by promising grievence restitution to broad based minority groups the outcome in inevitable.  The reason why multiculturalism is leading to the decay of western societies is becuase people lack a shared goal and a shared sense of pride in their country.

972 people responded. Top categories of concern were: 1) Inflation, 2) Gas Prices, 3) The Economy, and 4) Bills.

I just can't fathom how universities create such newsworthy headlines from amateur-ish experiments led by some student group that really has too much time on their hands to not provide unique categories to respondents on what worries them about the country. Not saying the countries heading in the right direction but come on, my google sheets questionnaire on favorite flavor of ice cream in the 5th grade was designed better than this.

Ah, looks like I was totally wrong about my assessment. Fair enough

Your assessment is correct. However, the problem is exacerbated when an experiment is designed with such flaws. Picking 900 people from any neighborhood of any part of the US can yield ANY headline one aims to achieve. The divide is there but the headline and the story are just extremely poorly constructed. All the problems you identified are reasons for why the countries social development is stunted, but what exactly would America be on the wrong track of if the entire populace was asked to answer? Wrong track towards financial prosperity? Internal security? Progressive legislation? Each individual faces such a unique set of challenges which is determined by the circumstances they are forced to face. So on average, EVERYONE would seemingly agree that the country is not on the right track. Let's identify one key area and then discuss whether it's going forward or backward. Gun violence and belief in the legal system are two of the big No's but there's plenty of things the average american would think are moving or have moved in the right direction.

Dems manage to destroy every city over time -- just look at SF. Now that they've destroyed their city, they're now moving to destroy other cities like Austin. They spread their rot wherever they go. If you're going to destroy your city, at least stay there and deal with the consequences, don't try to ruin everyone else's life too

Thank the sweet lord that we finally have a conservative court now to at least block the most egregious liberal ideas on a national level & give states more powers to prevent this rot from seeping in too much

Why can't it be bad. Are you capable of a succinct/coherent explanation.

Everyone understands its upsides, but no one wants to acknowledge its downsides. I think its a good thing personally, but not when its used as a political manipulation card.

Idk if you’ve seen my other comments but I’m staunchly against the concepts of affirmative action and corporations using diversity as a political tactic.

But genetic diversity is incredibly important for us. It brings new ideas, perspectives, and approaches. It drives creativity and innovation, promotes tolerance and understanding between people, and it attracts more money to an economy through growth of different types of businesses

If we were all the same blond haired, blue eyed people like Hitler wanted we would lose many or all of the above. One of the reasons why America has remained a powerhouse is precisely because it’s a melting pot.

Ok yeah I'm sure if we were all white christians we'd be living in a utopia.

The US would actually be a lot closer to being one of those Scandinavian "social democracies" leftists love if this was the case. While the US compares pretty bad to Europe in a lot of metrics (crime, education, etc.), white Americans alone stand up pretty much evenly with the likes of Denmark, the Netherlands, and Germany.

This thread gave me cancer

I love that none of the top reasons cited had anything to do with diversity, yet that is what people on here latched on to in order to explain it. Not to mention that it's a shoddy study that Isaiah posted probably just to enjoy watching people finger point at each other without any real meaningful content

Ironically the reasons cited had stuff to do with finance/economics which you'd think would be topics that people on here are actually equipped to intelligently debate, but instead it somehow turns immediately to race/diversity which says a lot about how some of the people on here view the world

Literally someone earlier in the thread who thinks being compared Hitler is a compliment...

WSO at its best yet again....
