I stumbled upon this youtube video about a person trying out her twin sister's finance job. As a women interested in finance, I thought it was really cool to see a video of someone working in finance. I'm not sure how accurate this video is so I just wanted to ask if this video realistically represents finance.

I’m sorry if I did something wrong by asking if this is accurate. Clearly the women in the video works in a high finance role in NYC and I wanted to know how accurately this video conveyed high finance careers. As someone interested in her career, I found the video really interesting because it showed the perspective of a person inside the industry and a person outside the industry. It also is a very well done video and if you were a girl I’m sure the video might have been more appealing. All I hoped to know is if this video was accurate.
Ignore the shit talking prospect accounts, they're just future back-office schmucks. Keep that interest and cultivate it, it'll pay off.
It's cool that you're interested and looking to learn more about finance. I'd say this was a nice way to get initial exposure and that the vidro gave a decent little summary of some of the sister's day-to-day in her corner of the market. I'd say given the current circumstances with WFH it's fairly representative of what junior finance roles will look like for now, but I don't think it's at all an accurate representation of the industry as a whole. She has one very specific job in the corporate credit investment world, but there are dozens upon dozens of different sectors/product types/management structures that different types of investment and financial services firms take the form of.

not really. and the BWIC wouldve been a lot more stressful than that. it's BS really because shes only in that job because shes a woman (I looked at her Linkedin). and shes a rich kid.
Sorry I’m just trying to get more insight. I hope this doesn’t come of the wrong way. So I understand since she is a women and the recent push to diversity she may have gotten the role over a man, but she still has an impressive background going to John’s Hopkins and working at Morgan Stanely and Guggenheim before her current role. I just want to understand why her background may not be that impressive. Her family is extremely well off and it’s very easy to tell and I believe her dad used to be a famous radio host. Unfortunately other people having more money and connections is a part of life. I’m sure it’s very helpful in finance since the industry is heavily focused on connections but there are rich kids who are in nice jobs because of their parents in every industry. I unfortunately don’t have her wealth or connections so I’ll have to work much harder than her. I’m just trying to learn as much as I can and I hope that didn’t come of as rude. I appreciate your insight.

its not about diversity lol its about the fact she went to a tier 200 non-target, and got a role at MS because, as some people in the thread have alluded to, she's "hot". the majority of sales people in fih-nuance are chicks that are 7/10 and above, and its no coincidence. when you get in to finance, it will smack you in the face how rigged the system is. and fyi the type of trading she's doing is low touch, its not indicative of high finance at all.
The fact that you guys consider these women 'hot' tells a lot about what the average woman in finance looks like lol

Just because there were so many bizarrely rude comments, I’d add that I generally agree with the analyst 3 in PE comment. I watched the video, and it’s a lighthearted very high-level intro to one specific job within the broader world of finance. Nothing jumped out as being “wrong” to me in the video though obviously there are lots of other jobs out there and much more to her job than you could see in a short video that can’t hear what she’s talking about on calls.
Keep trying to read and learn more about different jobs in finance and what might interest you. Also, the comments saying that someone who studied econ or whatever at John’s Hopkins wasn’t qualified for their job are out of their minds. Sure it might’ve been easier if she’s well connected but that’s how it works.
