Wall Street Oasis Literacy Test

Currently work at LMM PE in a LCOL city as a VP. I went A2A at a BB (GS, JPM, MS) then got into an M7 for my MBA, after which I chose my current firm for WLB. When I was at a T30 for UG (although not HYPSM level), my goal was to be a QT at an MM (SIG, 2∑) or a QR at a top tier AM (WAM, PAM) with a path to HF, but that didn't work out. I recently got an offer to go back into banking as a VP at an EB (PJT, CVP, EVC) with a clear path to MD in a few years.
Please define the following acronyms, as used in the example above:
LMM, PE, LCOL, VP, A2A, BB, M7, MBA, WLB, T30, UG, HYPSM, QT, MM, QR, AM, HF, VP, EB, MD.
Bonus (ranked from easy to hard):
GS, JPM, MS, EVC, CVP, PJT, SIG, 2∑
Alright fuck it I'll bite:
LMM = Lower Middle Market
PE = Private Equity
LCOL = Low Cost of Living
VP = Vice President
A2A = Analyst to Associate
BB = Bulge Bracket
M7 = Top 7 MBA programs (HBS, GSB, Sloan, Booth, Kellogg, Wharton, Columbia, no order here)
MBA = Master of Business Administration
WLB = Work life Balance
T30 = Top 30 school (likely undergrad)
UG = Undergrad
HYPSM = Harvard, Yale, Princeston, Stanford, and I believe M = MIT?
QT = Quant Trading
MM = Middle Market
QR = Quant Research
AM = Asset Management
HF = Hedge Fund
VP (You repeated this btw) = Vice President
EB = Elite Boutique
MD = Managing Director
GS = Goldman Sachs
JPM = JP Morgan
MS = Morgan Stanley
EVC = Evercore (But pretty sure it's most commonly referred to as EVR)
CVP = Centerview Partners
PJT = PJT Partners
SIG = Susquehana International Group? Not certain
2Σ = 2 Sigma
When I first got into WSO it was really confusing having all these acronyms and it was honestly quite hard learning these since not all of these have formal definitions (not used outside of finance). I hope these definitions help some new users out.
You got one wrong
Is it that he said MM is middle market when it's really multi-manager?
“Princeston” 😂😂😂😂
Who gave me 3 MS for this
MM is Market Maker in this case
Duff & Phelps would like to have a word with you
I know all of them except “work-life balance.” Does not compute.
In my opinion SIG is harder than 2 sigma
For sure, even many of those in the prop trading firm probably don't know what SIG stands for
what does SIG mean? Is Susquehana International Group right?
Yes. But it’s based on Philly not NYC which makes the clue harder.
What's MF? I never knew what that one meant, ex: MF PE
Mother Fucker
Mega fund, should have added that, along with multi manager as someone mentioned above.
LMM = Lesser Market Maker
PE = Publicly-traded Equities
LCOL = Low Cost of Loaning
VP = Vice Principal
A2A = Ask 2 Answer
BB = Big Bulls
M7 = Top 7 Sororities (Magnificent Seven), Ex: Kappa Kappa Gamma, Alpha Phi
MBA = Multinational Basketball League
WLB = Wonky Leveraged Buyout
T30 = Top 30 (Banks)
UG = Underguaged (Securities) - AKA underpriced/arbitrage
HYPSM = Harvard, Yale, Penn, SMU, Michigan (Big 5 supertargets)
QT = Quantitative Tracking (price actions)
MM = Market Makers
QR = Quantitative Reeling (backtest price actions)
AM = Americas (North and Latin)
HF = High Frequency (trading)
EB = Earth-Bound (price adhering to intrinsic value)
MD = Medical Doctorate
GS = Golden Shits
JPM = Just Pricing Markets (quant jargon)
MS = Monkey Shits
EVC = Eyeing Valid Corporate-Debts (DCM jargon)
CVP = Crazy Vobbringur Prices (quant jargon)
PJT = Peanut-Butter Jam Toast (Monte Carlo triple stack pattern)
SIG = Seven Inch Glammurong (satoshi candlestick pattern, quant terminology)
2Σ = Two Sums (Ferringber Analysis Result)
Could not be more impressed
*2σ, pls fix

Yawn. Non target, got 10 letters after my name. No grad school, but oh, did I tell you about the paper I wrote with two HBS professors? They also quote one of my funds on the 6-0 clock news. (Not SPY or DIA)
