Career Resources
bozeman, mt
That would be tight
All about this. I'd love to move to Bozeman.
Como, Italy
https://img.traveltriangle.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/lake-com…" alt="Como" />
This guy gets it. Any where in Northern Italy or Spain will work for me
Been there for a week, one of the best weeks in my life.
Arguments for Como: lake, mountains, great architecture, proximity to a big financial hub (Milan), decent railway links to rest of Italy and Switzerland.
I grew up there. It's nice for families but quite boring if you're young
Boring? I hanged out there with some of the finest girls I've ever met.
Btw are you from Liechtenstein? I've been there during one of the market days in Schaan and walked from Austria through the whole principality all the way to Switzerland (was quite a long day walk lol).
Madrid
Miami
Austin, TX. I'd be there already but very few companies even have their finance teams there.
Malta
Hmm, user name checks out
Vienna or Amsterdam
Love both of these
Tel Aviv
Btw if you want to live near a financial hub (30 minutes commute), there are a lot of small kick-ass towns surrounding Frankfurt. Ideal if you love medieval architecture, quiet places, and forests.
Would be great if I knew German. I'm not really sure about this, but I've heard Frankfurt is survivable for someone that only knows English. I get the feeling these places would require you to have at least some level of competence in German.
I think a lot of places in Europe are survivable if you only speak English, but navigating around on vacation is way different than working full time.
Some German is good, but good German is better - when I arrived in Germany my German was fairly okay, but that first day I had to buy basic supplies in the supermarket neither I knew what spoon and fork are in German nor anyone in the supermarket understood those words in English.
Also, you will have quite a headache with bureaucracy as it is not very English-friendly, including the communications with the post office, your Internet provider, your facilities provider, etc.
I have friends in Germany who don't know much German and for them this is the pain in the ass.
Barcelona
Depends what for. If I was pursuing this line of work, probably London. If I was a teacher / retired individual, I reckon I could get around the Gold Coast, Australia.
Iberian peninsula
somewhere south of LA (OC/SD County)
central Costa Rica
Why central costa rica?
The dinosaurs, probably.
playa hermosa has some of the best, most consistent waves in the world. warm water year round, wonderfully nice people, gorgeous women (and not ALL of them are working girls) if you're single, not as dangerous as its northern neighbors, good medical care relative to other "3rd world" countries, breathtaking nature with volcanoes inland, cliffs by the beach, toucans, macaws, monkeys, turtles all over the place, etc. from a work standpoint, infrastructure has gotten better (less brownouts) so it's possible to work remotely from there, plus you're still US time zones, so easy to navigate from that standpoint versus something like Bali. plus, it's an easy flight to both north and south america, would be a bitch to get to europe which I also love, but it'd be a good hub for me
Man, I'd be down to live all sorts of places for a while.
Southern California, New Zealand, the UK, German, The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Singapore, etc.
So many cool places in the world.
+1 imagine living in one place for the rest of your life - quite boring huh?
Couldn't agree more. I've lived in 5 states now.
Moving countries, of course, is far more complicated.
second Barcelona
Second your second. I fucking LOVE that city.
Man, I was supposed to spend a week there less than a month ago.
Nowhere else. People come here and they don't end up leaving. When I go away for university I realize why.
I like dense cities. I'm in HK and I love it. Never lived in NYC, but from how much fun I have when I visit, I'd imagine it's awesome to live there.
quiet / anonymous countryside in Japan.
New Zealand. Beautiful country.
Second this. NZ is amazing. Definitely would love to go back. Not sure of the career options though in finance? Maybe if/when i go there i'll be running my own gig..
Tel Aviv Mexico City Nashville, TN
North Shore in Oahu. Give me a shack and I can live off the ocean. Surf everyday with no worries in the world.
You guys are so boring for picking those places that should serve as vacation spots and nothing more than vacation spots. The fact that you guys all picked places that are decent for only brief visits and not for living full time shows that you guys are all very dull and unsophisticated individuals. Sophisticated and exciting individuals would pick a large, diverse city with a lot of depth and color in the form of vibrant culture, variety, contrast, scope, opportunity, people, etc.....not just some place that looks pretty or has nice weather or whatever.
Not everyone likes big cities. I grew up in the very center of a capital city and just tired of all the noise. Nice small town with great nature near a big hub will do it for me.
I’d go for Lisbon, beautiful city and weather, great nightlife, in close proximity to the beaches and nature
