Would you hire someone who is 300lbs?
Would you hire an analyst who is more than 300lbs? What if he was super qualified and fit right into the team?

Maybe maybe not
In some ways it shows a lack of discipline. It certainly is better to have a good physical appearance especially in a sales role
But if they are really well qualified then why not .. especially as an analyst when they are just crunching numbers
Btw I am 285 pounds (up 100 from my regular weight) due to medication. I would certainly appreciate if people gave me the benefit of the doubt in my interviews; not all do
If something makes you gain 100lb the human body is prob not meant to ingest it. Nobody will give you the benefit of the doubt unless you decide to become captain of your own ship. Praying for you dawg, I used to be on a lot of meds myself. Not a single one anymore.
I got injured and it ruined my whole routine; I also had to quit my job. I was consistently a normal weight my whole life and thought once my injury healed I would get better and just lost the weight. Unfortunately, my injury became permanent and I've only recently developed a new routine after gaining like 100lbs. I'm currently losing the weight but seriously nervous that people will not hire a fat person.
Thinking to like create a Strava and track my progress to show prospective employers I'm dedicated but also think they won't care / will think I'm just a weirdo.
don't have much other than to applaud you for tackling this head on, you were clearly delt a crappy hand but aren't using it as an excuse to not become the best version of yourself. Seems clear to me you'll get yourself to where you want to be personally and professionally.
I dont care that I will get flamed for this but I will say it anyway but I was in a very similar situation to you and now I’m pain free. The solution? Eat loads of fatty red meat, and nothing else excwpt water. Hope you try it. Bless up.
Would not bring up Strava in an interview like that. You should eat less and drink less (alc or sugary drinks) and lose the weight. Adding that much weight from an injury is all on you, gotta make some changes man. I am rooting for you!
Bruh, if they work well and bring in money they can weight 1000lgs for all I care
lgs?
He probably meant lb
Based on the most helpful WSO content, weight or physical appearance should not be a determining factor in hiring decisions, especially if the candidate is highly qualified and fits well into the team. The focus should be on their skills, experience, and ability to contribute value to the organization.
In fact, there’s a compelling story shared on WSO about someone who weighed 280 pounds, had a 2.5 GPA from a non-target school, and still managed to turn their life around, lose weight, and secure interviews with top firms like McKinsey. This highlights that determination, qualifications, and cultural fit are far more important than physical attributes.
Ultimately, hiring decisions should prioritize merit and team dynamics over superficial factors.

Is he 4'8" or is he 6'9"? 300lbs while overweight for both is a very different thing with those two scenarios.
I’m 6’1”
good for you?
Bro is the elephant in the room
Mara20 prolly racist too
Didn’t mean to be a dickhead lol - best wishes
Analyst? IDK. Other roles, yes.

I’d hire Sam Sulek
Dude is cool
I worry about his breathing tho. Needs to see someone for that
Discrimination in the work place exists but I would not put this as an attribute that most people are not going to care all that much about. I think it is kind of low on the list of being vulnerable to discrimination.
If you’re a man you might get away with it. If you’re a woman you definitely won’t.
100% depends how tall they are
EVERY TEAM NEEDS A UNIT IN IT.
300lbs is pushing the limit either way, but it depends on far more factors than simply weight. Body composition, stature, and most importantly, grooming, are far more important.
I'll take a fat dude who knows how to dress, keeps his hair and beard tidy, doesn't smell bad, and isn't annoying to be around over a fit guy who is a piece of shit any day.
X
300lbs of fat and not tall enough to distribute it well? I wouldn't care but if i had to pick between 2 candidates and they were basically equal, then i'm not picking them.
can you make us wealthier? if yes, you can even come for the interview with one of those
(just don't expect to face clients/c-suite)
plant based, with chicken -- absolute lifesaver
1. cardiac issue
2. heart condition
3. cardiovascular problem
>>> Not ideal for IB
It depends if your company offers lunch to employees. If they do, run a cost benefit and keep in mind these expenses are tax-deductable
Depends what you want to do and what you’re doing.
If you’re a rainmaker, it doesn’t matter. I know some fat traders with fatter PnLs. I know fat bankers with fatter Rolodexes.
When I helped out on campus recruiting years back, I had an MD who thought fat people were lazy and then another who felt fat people stayed at the office longer and it was like cauliflower ear for fighters.
Private capital + hedge funds, I don’t see it too much outside of some marquee examples.
Really comes down to who is hiring.
"Asking for a friend."
lol it is me, I'm really fat. Losing weight though!
