so i currently have no offer and i'm about to graduate without any offer. I will be graduating from a non-target school. I'm planning to do ib internships (previous ones are 1 mkt research firm internship + 1 merchant banking internship)
What would be a good path to take to go to BB?

at this point your best bet
at this point your best bet would be getting into a good graduate program. i dont know who would take you on as an intern after youve already graduated...so your focus should probably be on graduate programs. how was your UG gpa?
Yeah you need to go work for
Yeah you need to go work for a fortune 40 or 50 company and do hell of a job. Get admitted into a top 30 MBA program then you will be in good position.
If you're dedicated you'll get to where you need to be.

3 yrs WE whatever field >excellent GMAT >awesome story > M7 b school > BB of your choice
Still I Rise
My ug gpa is currently around
My ug gpa is currently around 3.5 and im actually taking summer school so i was thinking to get local boutique ib intership n prepare myself for some sort of recruit. Is it a bad idea?
its a good idea if you can
its a good idea if you can get it done, but realize that its may 26th. have you been in talks with any banks yet..?
No BB will take you on as an
No BB will take you on as an intern unless you are a student. I tried. Don't worry about the fortune 40-50 business. I don't know anyone who has gone to an MBA program outside the top 20 and everyone has had a variety of employers. Just make sure you do well and get a good gmat.
I actually was trying to help
I actually was trying to help a guy get an SA (late, but for good reason). I talked to a few people about it and everyone from 1-man shops to BBs have their people locked down for summer. You might be able to get an unpaid internship somewhere, but don't expect it to propel you into a BB job

not to hijack the thread but....
i was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the importance of the "Fortune ____" when applying to business school. does it make a difference if you're in a Fortune 10 versus Fortune 50, versus Fortune 500 versus Fortune 1000?
i ask because i work at a Fortune 1000 company, but i think we have stronger name brand than most of the Fortune 500. Fortune bases its rankings on Revenue numbers, but my firm easily makes the top 500 based on profits or market capitalization. Additionally, we are in the top 100 in Interbrand's "Best Global Brands" and Fortune ranks us as #1 in our sector in their "Most Admired Companies" list.

to rephrase my question... is it worth jumping from a very well known company that's not in the Fortune 500 into a Fortune 50 company that's not as well known (Archer Daniels Midland, for example), for the purpose of business school name recognition?
i work in financial planning & analysis, if that helps. thanks.
Money Never Sleeps? More like Money Never SUCKS amirite?!?!?!?
I'd say no but I dont have an
I'd say no but I dont have an MBA. Some of the top companies send their top people to the same top tier business school. Like all the top people at ATT go get their MBA at _____ (I think Warton). I have heard people who want to go get their MBA somewhere specifically and then target certain companies based on that.

I went to a very non-target undergrad, and a top 3 business school. I graduated a long time ago, but still meet with kids from my undergraduate school and MBA candidates.
The advice I give to all the kids I meet from my undergad is to go dig up a research job/internship. It is the opposite of glamorous, but the experience is invaluable. You'll end up with sector, valuation, projection, and a great deal of accounting experience. After a year, you should be able to get an interview at all BB's, excluding GS and MS, who won't interview you based on your undergrad alone. The other shops will recognize the fact that you'll hit the ground running and be able to very effectively present information and model out merger consequences. On top of this, you will learn the art of presenting a company in a sell side assignment. Also, you will learn the street and know where to go to dig up information which eats up a ton of time for all analysts.
Best of luck and feel free to hit me on private message.
