Accenture to IB

Strap in... So I graduated from HYP, and I've been working in "Strategy & Consulting" at Accenture for just over 2 years since college. Doing well in it; easy promotions, etc. Overall, I like my coworkers, enjoy good WLB, and feel somewhat challenged and fairly paid.

I also work on some pretty interesting stuff and have some other experiences that I guess would help me stand out in trying to make a career change.

However, I was sort of directionless when it came to careers in college, and so I just kinda ended up here. Looking back, I wish I had seriously committed to IB recruiting. But I didn't.

Is there any chance that I can "lateral" into finance from Accenture? Is there any path for this kind of thing, or do I need to get an MBA? Mainly interested in ER and IB

Appreciate any recs you have. Thanks.

Only time I have seen people pivot successfully, at least from a place like Accenture is doing an M7 MBA.

There is a chance for a lateral move to certain consultant-friendly PE funds (but they usually prefer MBB with CDD experience). Given you indicate IB or ER, I'd say an MBA is the only way unless you get lucky with some connections.

This is also assuming you want to work at more brand name shops for your IB/ER gig i.e. BBs or respectable MMs.
