Advice on moving from commercial to corporate credit

Hey guys, I would really appreciate feedback on moving from a commercial analyst to a corporate credit analyst. I wasn't exactly sure which forum to post this in, but I figured some banks I-banking and CB units are intertwined so I chose this one!

Quick Background: I have been working at a smaller commercial bank for 2 years now (roughly 1B in assets). The day to day work is engaging and I enjoy my job, the problem is the lack of compensation ($40k all-in). I am planning on moving to Minneapolis in the near future and would like to find an analyst job at a corporate bank. From my understanding the basic skill is transferable, but I am unclear on what else I should know before (hopefully) starting a new job.

  1. How much modeling could I expect? Are there courses out there geared towards CB modeling?
  2. What do you think is the necessary skill set?
  3. How many hours a week is typical?
  4. Is it possible to start out as a 2nd/3rd year analyst with my exp. or would I basically be a 1st year?

Disclaimer: I used the search function and found some good info, but would like a better idea where I would fit in.

Much appreciated!
