Big 4 Restructuring Straight Out Of UNI?

Do the big 4 hire in their restructuring groups straight out of university? Or do they typically require financial experience and/or years spent in audit? Since the Big4 are accounting focused, are finance majors at a disadvantage? Thank you :)

My dad is a partner at a big 4 insolvency and restructuring group in Toronto. He graduated, worked in audit 2 years, then moved over as a manager in restructuring for 2-3 years, became a senior manager in restructuring for 2-3 years and is now currently a partner in restructuring (1990 till now).

It is a really unique line of business and there will always be work. I wouldn't get too wrapped up in your undergrad. My dad shared a story with me once where they hired a BA Music who got her CPA and is a partner with him.

PM me for more info if you'd like and I can pass it along.
