Commodities advice

Hi, Im a rising junior at a semi target studying economics and environmental science, this summer I'm interning in PWM for a BB in NY. I just want a bit of advice regarding a potential next move. I'm really interested in Commodity and Energy Markets, I have a few connections in IB but not totally sure its what I want to do. Is S&T out of the question if not a quant?

I cover mostly commodity-driven equities at my SA and I've really developed an interest in commodity markets (partially because I needed to and partially because I think commodities are more like real investments now more than a decade ago).

I can't speak to energy (Monty09 can, though) but math is somewhat important in being able to juggle options spreads in your head quickly and other basic math but, from what I've read about and learned from talking to commodity traders, heavy math is not necessary.

Learning about various commodities fundamentals, like the state of the current corn planting season in the Midwest versus interior China, and being able to do tech analysis are key.

But I'm definitely a novice and my knowledge is all academic and from traders. I've never traded myself.
