Consequences of Reporting Manager

3 year in at a BB, the team is screwing me over and there is no chance of promotion next year despite all the hours. They're giving the other analyst the associate bump (nepotism and sexism sky high here). I'm quitting and switching industries after bonuses hit but I want to leave an impression. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what might happen if I report my manager for gathering and scanning decks that he had other juniors bring in from their previous banks/firms? That's a lot of IP being stolen from competitors and pressure to provide other intel.

There is a variety of ways to report this internally including hr, compliance and whistleblower hotlines. Compliance usually is best at this given they are trying to keep the firm reputation. Within group or hr would likely cover it up.

Retaliation claims are extremely hard if not explicitly due to a protected class (race, gender etc.). All lawsuits have to go through FINRA arbitration court and you could review broad details and outcomes of all past cases online. Those FINRA courts are very bank friendly.

Lateral MDs do this all the time and no one really cares.

This is an industry of people who think they are slick while simultaneously stealing IP from other bankers.

Most MDs will lie cheat and steal for personal gain if they don’t think they will get caught.
