recruiting directly in Europe probably not, but some banks allow you to move to Europe if an European wants to move in the US, so basically you just exchange places, US employee takes the place of the European and the European takes the US employee's place

clearly you'll need to stay on the seat for 1-2 years before asking for it

Not really. The visa is not a big problem post-Brexit like it would be in the US, but more importantly, you need to have some UK or at least EU links to land there. Either from there, have family there, or attending a British/European school. An American attending an American school with zero connection to London is not likely to stay long-term and it'll be difficult to convince anyone to hire you.

The better route is to work for a European bank in the US for 2-3 years and then ask them to transfer you to the home office.

Shows up fine to me, but repasting it below

Attending a UK university on a year abroad. Recruited in London because US recruiting was mainly over and I thought I was going back to my firm from last summer (I’m not). Received an offer for London and was told I most likely would be given a London position if offered FT return. Have yet to see, but it is possible given these circumstances. (on a tier 4 visa through the summer, but require work sponsorship should I come work FT)
