Has anyone heard of this Boutique?

It is called "Brocair Partners" and it is in Midtown NYC... They cover the Healthcare sector and have deal size ranging from 30 - 250 Million. So they seem pretty good in regards to size, and have decent deal flow as well. Also have a lot of international exposure and overseas deals, so in that regard, they aren't regional.

Anyone hear anything about this firm, know any previous interns/analysts who have worked here? Just curious because I have some connections to this firm and I want to see if it would be worth it to gain some experience here.

Bro-Care Healthcare Partners, LOL.

The last act is tragic, however happy all the rest of the play is; at the last a little earth is thrown upon our head, and that is the end for ever.

I'd be careful of the "range" they provide. Many times small boutique firms will say they do deals from 50 million to 500 million but if you take a quick look on their transactions page they have never closed a deal over ~$30 million. The "over SEK 200 million" deal is actually ~30 million USD.

Nothing wrong with closing small deals, but the experience provided in closing a $10 million dollar deal is much different than one that is >$150mm. From the standpoint of an intern it probably won't matter too much since you'll show that you have an interest in finance and that'll pull interviews when you recruit again but if this is a place you're looking at to work full time I'd be wary of comp and exit opps. I have had experience working at a place like this as an intern and the analysts I worked with did not like it at all.

Yeah looking as an intern. And they had a deal that closed over a month ago that was $100 Mill USD, but I know exactly what you are saying with the different currencies and such. Deceiving at that. Does it look worthy, or "chop-shop" like?

Alright cool thanks. And by the way, I just think it hasn't been updated in a while because when I went in I saw those desk pieces you get after a deal closes and all of the deals I saw were recent and were not listed on the website yet. Guess they are lazy and don't like to keep the site up to date

Well that's good to know.. So there deal flow might be picking up

How would a summer analyst position at a firm like this sound for, say, a sophomore in undergrad at a total non-target? Just wondering how this type of experience is perceived amongst reputable firms on the street.

Not too bad, really, if you can get some deal experience on your resume.

I'd stay away if this is for FT. Sophomore/junior SA is fine, imo.

Alright great, thanks guys. Just curious... What does typical "deal experience" look like on an SA's resume? I had another post talking about this, but as a sophomore SA right now, I have been doing very basic things like spreading comps, finding sub-sector multiples, doing research reports on different industries, making presentations for private equity firms etc. Given that information, would you change your answer?

that is solid experience for a sophomore SA. deal experience will probably be any pitches that you worked on, or if you were staffed on a live deal. but the tasks are basic like what youre doing (maybe updating the models are as much as you can do).

whats good about having deal experience is you can talk about your deals and they can get a sense of how you think about businesses, transactions, markets etc.

every banker knows that a sophomore that lists deals on their resume didnt do anything
