Healthcare Bank Comparisons
I want to stir the pot on comparisons for HC banks in each major sub vertical, but mainly life sciences and healthcare services for associates level. Hours, deal flow, total comps, culture, personal growth potential, exit strategy, etc. So the format can be
life sciences: bank a, bank b, bank c
healthcare services: bank b, bank a, bank c
Total compas: bank c, bank a, bank b
and so on
and also want to ask would you go for the healthcare group of a BB or a HC boutique.
Lastly, very interested in the comparisons for HC group for the following banks: Cain Bros, MTS, Harris Williams (HC group), Piper Sandler (healthcare services particularly). Deal flow, hours, comps, culture, exit strategy, etc.
Loaded question, but interested
bump, feel like HC banking is rarely discussed on here.
For Life Sciences / Biopharma M&A:
1A: Centerview 1B: JPM, Evercore, MS, Lazard 2: BofA, PJT, GS, Guggenheim, Citi 3: Jefferies, Leerink, MTS, Piper Special mention: Dyal
Spent 3 years in biotech banking and I'd say these are the major names with a presence. Everyone else picks up the scraps and/or are very small cap / LMM
GS is definitely better than Evercore in biotech, and what was the last meaningful biotech deal that Jeff advised on?
In what world?
Can you dig in on Dyal? How would you compare a Dyal offer to your tier 2s?
Would definitely agree with ranking MS and PJT pretty highly, this is a bit dated now but they were sell and buyside advisors (respectively) for the 2nd largest global pharma deal of 2019, Abbvie's acquisition of Allergan. Bit dated data point I know, but I am more removed from that space now. I was one of the probably 1000s of consultants who got to play a small part on that deal.
PJT Healthcare is on the decline - the group lost Tom Davidson back in May, the originator of most of its megadeals...
Would you rank Cowen (TD) in line with Jefferies / Leerink / Piper?
operates on the upper end of this group
Any views on bank insights for HC Services?
X

Cain brothers?
.
Interacted with all* the HC groups you listed. To me, I thought MTS was head and shoulder above the rest. Very sharp team, some with unique healthcare backgrounds. Interesting deals and exit opportunities. EB level pay with very long hours.
Man ur always on here talkin bout MTS
Eh, I do think highly of them. My bad*
Where my PWP guys hyping up PWP
LOL
Any info on Piper HCS?
Cain bros info?
Bump
Any info on Moelis Life Sciences? Have their own group-specific recruiting and have contributed >10% of total firm revenue for some years now, curious how they stack up
