How is Citrix on Mac with USB keyboard?

Since it is running windows at the back through virtual pc, does it mean basically I can just use all the windows hotkey with slight latency for Citrix?

My firm runs mostly on citrix virtual machine so I am thinking if it makes any difference moving over. I plan to keep a Windows laptop just in case though.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights on using hotkeys and virtual machines:

  1. Hotkeys Efficiency:

    • Windows Hotkeys: You can use Windows hotkeys on a Mac with a USB keyboard when running a virtual PC through Citrix. This includes common shortcuts like Ctrl+C for copy, Ctrl+V for paste, and Ctrl+Z for undo.
    • Latency: There might be slight latency due to the virtual environment, but the functionality should remain largely the same.
  2. Common Hotkeys:

    • Navigation: Windows+Arrow keys to move windows, Alt+Tab to switch between programs.
    • Program Access: Windows key + type name of program to open applications.
    • Document Management: Ctrl+W to close tabs, Ctrl+W+Tab+Space to close documents without saving.
    • Row/Column Management: Ctrl+9/0 and Shift+Ctrl+9/0 for hiding and unhiding rows/columns.
    • Locking Computer: Windows+L to lock the computer.
  3. Additional Tips:

    • Text Navigation: Ctrl+Arrow key helps navigate through text quickly, and adding Shift highlights the text.
    • Modeling Without Mouse: Force yourself to use Alt and follow the letters on the ribbon to find what you need, which can increase efficiency over time.
  4. Backup Plan:

    • Windows Laptop: Keeping a Windows laptop as a backup is a good idea to ensure you have a seamless experience if any issues arise with the virtual environment.

By leveraging these hotkeys and understanding the slight latency, you can maintain efficiency even when using a Mac with a USB keyboard in a Citrix virtual machine environment.
