Me!!
Why? Culture reasons or you're just not interested in banking anymore?
I intend on leaving my current group. Probably has the worst culture at my bank.

I am! Already accepted an offer and counting down the days….
Signed an offer to lateral to another firm or you're leaving the industry all together?
Going to VC
Anyone willing to share why they decided to leave? Culture, better groups, PE, what prompted you to make this decision? Curious as an incoming IB SA.
Banking is not worth your mental, physical health if you don’t have a passion for it. Some people have a passion for this job, but I do not. I have no plans to stay in banking long term, so why stay and extra year for the “2 years”? I am going to make a jump into a Corp Dev role and build skills for another industry I want to jump into down the road
Wasn’t able to go home for Christmas cause of a potential deal that came out of nowhere…and ended up dying anyways. Right there I knew I wasn’t going to stay in the job for the long haul and I have no interest in PE which is banking 2.0.
Was seriously thinking about it and then I got a MF PE offer and accepted it on the spot lol
joining as an analyst?
Thinking of doing Corp Dev after the one year mark. Hate the long hours but more importantly the unpredictability even during "slower" periods not being able to plan anything at all. No interest in PE now after seeing its essentially the same lifestyle.
Basically not even being able to step out for an hour to workout/take care of my health consistently is what does it for me.
Yup working out was a huge part of my life before starting and that was like the bare minimum I wanted to keep regardless of time for other hobbies etc, but I can't even consistently do that. Its nearly impossible to have time to fully mentally decompress too. Not sure how people live like this their whole career tbh.
Curious - how did you'll reconcile your own self with the comp aspect (IB making about $200k and Corp Dev barely half of it?)
What good is the money with the stress and lack of autonomy that it requires? If I can get low six figures in Corp Dev, I'm still in a well above average financial position for a 24 year old, especially after a bonus.
^^^this. That poster sounds like someone who doesn’t work in IB. Everyone who works in IB understands the toll the job takes on you mentally which made me feel pretty indifferent towards the money honestly. Your lifestyle won’t change that much taking that pay cut because even though you make that much in IB you will not have a life outside of it. Ex: I rarely buy new clothes because lol where am I gonna go? I literally work all the time. A low 100k comp will still allow you to go out to eat, take a nice vacation, have all your subscriptions etc.
