Career Resources
IIdk why but that just sounds so depressing
Creativity though the roof
General Manager/CEO of Premier League team. Love soccer/futbol and wish I could take on that role, but alas back to real estate prep.
That would be dope! Mine is similar, would love to take a team in the EFL Championship and try to get them into the Prem.
Same, definitely would love to have a career like good old Ed Woodward
as a man united fan, not the biggest fan of woodward. As someone trying to recruit for IB rn, i literally look up to him
C-Suite at four seasons
So you can bang all the baddies?
You already know
You should read Isadore Sharpe’s autobiography, it’s great
Would you need to be C-suite to get the perks of working at the Four Seasons? I would imagine (but could be wrong) that a senior manager in any of the finance groups would get many of the perks of working there.
Corp strat or corp dev at disney/netflix/hulu etc.
No USC/UCLA background, or film family pedigree etc. makes it quite difficult to start out here, but I've always loved the film industry and the business side of these places seems like an amazing place to start a long career in media.
This is my more realistic dream job, film director is a bit more of a day dream than it is a dream job.
Your my hero
What do these roles actually do on a day to day? Do TMT bankers have a shot at them?
You sure you don't have a shot at those roles? Corp Dev is still about transactions, and banking experience should be enough to get your foot in the door.
.
Just saw a LinkedIn profile, guy went from MS in legacy / old economy coverage to Netflix Corp Strat. Went to a target so I’m sure that helps, but seems to be possible coming from a top bank
I would like to work at an actor recruiting agency where I get to meet hot celebrities, attend celebrity parties, have work-life balance, make loads of money, and have clout.
Entourage baby
LLOYD
So pretty much Endeavor (without the lots of $$$)? Lol.
Honestly seems like a great place to work too. Have seen people leave higher paying jobs for an opportunity there.
Co-Founder or C-suite role in a succesfull start-up in e-commerce/tech/aerospace/semiconductor company. Being a part of a start-up which will eventually become unicorn, and then make into NASDAQ would be very interesting. There are many risks associated with starting one, however, if I will become long living big company, then it is worth it. This path is interesting as 1) it is your own unique pathway, 2) you and your team have more or less tangible impact.
Truly, I dont recognize any from the recent years. Maybe it is because of high-starting costs. However, I would like in theory to co-found or be an executive in the semiconductor start-up. The industry seems very complex and its products even more complex which seems very interesting and attractive to me. But industry is very competitive to be in, as it requires mastery in engineering and competing with well-known firms.
is your answer a joke?

First race for McLaren then become the owner of the company.
Backup NFL QB. Do nothing and make more bank than you ever will at Blackstone
Matt Leinart lived my dream pretty much. Guy literally stayed his senior year at USC instead of going to the NFL. Seems like all the USC early 2000s stars loved college - LA Hollywood lifestyle and were future millionaires via the NFL draft.
I'd love to become a great film director. I've been watching Scorsese, Kubrick, Coppola, Leone, and so many others over quarantine, and it's my dream to make a masterpiece that rivals their work. Media and show business in general is so interesting to me.
NBA/MLB/NFL front office
Not too late
Prize fighter or SEAL. Was never good enough to pursue the former and football injuries DQ'd me before I could ever pursue the latter, which continues to eat at me 6 years later.
Same bro. Tried to go nsw as well and injuries from highschool kept me out. I make six figures and still just want to be in the military its fucking depressing.
Yup. Got my associate promotion right before my 28th birthday, age cut-off for BUDS, and realized I'd completely wasted my life since my chances of getting a waiver and going to BUDS went from 0.001% to 0%
Injuries are out of anyone's control, but serving no role in a 20 year war that took place while I was military-aged still feels shameful...especially when that's all I ever wanted to do
Fart man
If you could do anything, why would you work for someone else? Beta mentality at its finest.
Underrated comment. If you could do anything, why work for Blackstone? Shoot to be the next fucking Steve Schwarzman.
Media investing
quant trader/data scientist
you could be anything and you choose data scientist??
I mean when I was a kid it was be an athlete but it was quite stressful, so if I could play at that level without the stress and with all the money then yeah id obvs prefer that
Drive and talk about cars like Matt Farah, Jay Leno, Doug Demuro
Host the old Top Gear with Clarkson, Hammond, and May.
PWM for athletes or NBA front office role.
Both of these are such goals for me holy shit. Only thing I would add is pursuing acting, whether it be theatre or film. If my buddy's director-dreams take off and he gets one of his shows on a streaming service, I'm dropping everything
A lot of former athletes actually go this route if they pursue finance. Can imagine it can be super lucrative and fun.
Weird one -- British politician (front bencher). Something so cool about debating in the house of commons every day in Westminster.

- don’t really need to work
- meet interesting people from all over the world
idk how many years I’d have to grind to make this happen but who doesn’t have a dream XD
I don't know why, but I alway thought that being the Owner and/or CEO of a high-end winery would be a dream job.
Maybe is an Italian thing, Idk.
Honestly would love to go into WM right out of undergrad but doesn’t pay NEARLY as well or open as many opportunities/generate greater reputation
CEO of a TMT company and then park ranger.

Porn star
Chief exec or other key role at a fast growing tech startup in Austin or Palo Alto (generic Ik).
Don’t really care about the job title tbh, I just want to be needed and heard with a decent amount of control over the company’s trajectory/activities.
Anyone else?

I’d sign as a professional/sponsored gamer without a doubt. The WFH battle station has been paying off

Maybe start in real estate private equity, and transition to a full time commercial real estate developer/investor and an amateur race car driver on the side.

My niche Finance dream job was always to work on the financing side of Film and TV production. My father worked on the creative side and I got a fair amount of exposure to that industry as a kid and young adult. Such an interesting and fun area to work imo...
Investment banking w/tech hours
isnt this just corpdev? i think pay is on a similar level as tech (150-250k flat) as well
NHL hockey player, bank prop trader pre-Volcker rule or (more seriously into trying to be in the future) someone who innovates and pushes sustainable economic policy + finance like Mark Carney (he is my role model and his career path is something I am genuinely envious of)
I like the idea of being the head of a startup. Making all the important decisions, thinking outside the box where to source materials cheaper etc. That would be enjoyable for me. Having said that I don't dream of labour. Alternatively I'd like to be a professional mountain biker or James Bond.
