Interships for graduating high school seniors
How common is it for seniors who have graduated from high school to land finance interships before their first year in college. I know alot places have internships, but I do not know if they will even consider my resume and application as a highschool senior. If it matters I have already been accepted at two colleges (UofO Honnnors, and the University of Michgan) and will hear from the rest of them by april so I will definetly be attending a 4 year university next year. Also with the exception of religion, my entire schedule is either AP of dual enrollment collge courses (linear algebra, discrete math an multivarible calc) so its possible that I know as much as a lot of applicant just finihsing their freshman year of college. So far I have sent out letters expressing my interest in intership positions at several regional investment banks where I live. I plan on sending out additional letters to the rest of the investment banks and wealth management firms around my area, but I am wondering if there is anywhere else I can apply. Do any banks or private equity funds in NY or other centers of finance have programs that take graduating highschool seniors. Also if any you guys managaed to land an internship right out of school any advice would be greatly appreciated.
The short answer is no. You should go out and enjoy your summer after senior year -- travel a bit, do all the things that you haven't had a chance to do in high school, and give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done. Don't fret about finance internships until college. Good luck!
don't be in such a hurry to grow up. Drink beer, sleep in, and try to get laid as much as possible. Celebrate this free time because it will be over before you know it.
I have been surprised by the number of high schoolers on this website. When I was a senior in high school, the only thing on my mind was hot college chicks and how to get some alcohol without a fake ID.
I think JPM does something with high school seniors. check into that.
You're not even in college yet, so don't fret about it. For all you know, you might not even end up wanting to pursue a career in finance.
Don't cold call Banks, you'll never get anywhere. Network with your friends and go through your high school's career center. So far my High School has set me up with a few interviews in operations at a few companies and my friend's dad hooked me up with the fine people at Prudential Financial. If you try you should dig up a few leads.
