JP Morgan Chase BA Early Advantage Program
I looked at previous threads but was unable to find anything that was particularly insightful. Anyone that already had there phone interview, any advice? What questions should I expect? Also, how would I answer questions like why JP Morgan Chase?
Did people hear back for the Chicago office or NYC or Dallas?
To answer your questions about why JPM, have you talked to anyone from the firm? If so, mention that and say that this analyst/VP/past intern told me about ______ which makes JPM special or look into their "values" on the website.
Chicago, as of right now I am struggling to find a answer to why JP Morgan? that is not to cliche. I have not talked to anyone in the firm so finding a good answer will be hard
Maybe search around on the website and see if they have some programs for employees like for mentorship and stuff.
Yeah, I think doing research on there website for value, goals will definitely help with most of my answers.
Has anyone heard from the NYC office yet? Or should I give up hope for the program . :(
i haven't heard from the NYC office yet. are we supposed to have phone interviews? does anyone know when we should hear back by?
I heard yesterday!
for the new york location? and did they send you a email to confirm or did you have a phone interview?
I have a phone interview
how did the phone interview go? what questions did they ask?
Did anyone have their interview yet? If so any recommendations?
I never got an email confirmation after i submitted my application so I don't even know if they took my app in for review lol But dam never realized there were interviews involved in this
me too!!!! never got a email confirmation
Had an interview on wednesday. Wasn't particularly challenging, just wondering why you're interested etc.
Was the interview more conversational in the sense that the interviewer wanted to get to know you and your interests? Or were there technical questions too?
I'm at a target and I had a phone interview... but I don't think it went very well (LOL)
I am not at a target and I got an interview...it was super hard. Tricky behaviorals, and technicals similar to what you would get for an ib interview...no joke. I was asked about debt, equity and stuff like that.
lol looks like they were harder on non -target kids because I'm at a target and it was really chill
nothing to do with target..its just your interviewer
I am at a non-target, I got invited for a phone interview on Wednesday. I had my phone interview yesterday and I think it went well. The interview was very conversational and all behavioral questions.
sigh i should just give up. i pretty much can get a ib job elsewhere anyway so it's all good
Did people from non-targets have employees push resume?
Nope
I had a resume push, Im familiar with a lot of people within the company
I went to this last year, pretty cool but dont expect too much. As for the phone interview; know your resume, some basic behavioral questions, why JPM obviously. Good luck!
i'm from non-target and got an interview...any advice on how to prepare for technical questions? or other questions they ask?
No technicals.
when are you supposed to hear back?
Is Vanderbilt a target school?
I always thought that the target schools were HYPSM tbh for big banks :/
I was talking to one of my friends who's at GS now and they were telling me that really it doesn't matter if you go to a target or not to some degree. Nowadays tuition is so expensive that some "target" quality kids aren't at that school because its too expensive. Also, it costs the companies less if lets say they're headquartered at a certain location to get good kids from a "non-target" that could probably do the same job than spend money getting people from all over the country. So I would say its harder for people who aren't in the HQ state. It's all about making yourself visible within a company and showing you're competent not sooo so much the school anymore.
So has anyone heard back? When should we expect to hear back?
Is there a super day for this? And what exactly does this program involve? Do you come out of it with goodies?
for people who heard back, how long after the interview did you guys get the invitation?
I would wait a bit more for JPM. Had an interview with them just on the 29th of March. I asked when will we get response. They said March 31ish
Has anyone got word from JPM about getting in or not? At this point I suppose they are done with the interviews...
Last year people were getting interviews until April 1st, there's slight hope.
???? I just got an invite to the program and I didn't need to get interviewed at all. Very strange.
Which location for the event did you apply to?
Do you think they release invites at different times depending on the location?
Has anyone received a rejection? I'm curious if they'll tell us if we were dinged or if they just won't send you anything
I didn't receive a rejection either. I think they will at least let us know the decision tho. I talked to couple juniors and seniors who applied previous years.
I just received an invite too, no interview--not really sure what's going on?
April fools
jokes on you son I just accepted the invite lol
I got the invitation email today and I interviewed March 22nd.
Just got the invite!
Anyone else going to the Chicago office?
Would you find out via email? I guess if I haven't got one yet then I won't get one at all
I think it's through email. I haven't got one either :(
Wondering why I was assigned Dallas? I go to school in Boston!
I got also unexpectedly got assigned to Dallas
Dont think I'll be able to go if it's not in NYC...was told New York was at capacity
i got interviewed by an audit exec from the chicago office still havent heard back. so sad
I got the invite for Chicago, but shameless question, anyone have the rundown? I believe it was on the application page but I can't find it anywhere
also got assigned to Dallas but go to school on the East Coast..
I also have a conflict with the dates of the Dallas program. Has anyone reached out to try to switch dates with NYC, Chicago, or vice-versa?
Just wondering, how early did you guys apply? Might be a little early for summer 2017 lol...
It was around March.
Thank you
I did it last year in CHI and loved it. Really great introduction to the bank.
For why JPM, I think I looked at specific projects I was passionate about (so for example their investment in Detroit, which I was personally impacted by when I visited) and sort of making it personal. They also emphasize their winning culture, so bring that up.

Anyone hear back yet?
No
Missed the deadline by 1 DAY!
Nope, I did hear back from Barclays for the Sophomore Springboard Program which would be on the same day if I get the Barclays program and this one.
Did you get Barclays? Or have you heard about someone getting invited? I had the phone interview but I haven't heard back
Haven't heard back yet. I also had the phone interview and they said I would know fairly soon because the program is next month.
Nope, I applied in late February
You will most likely find out first week of April regarding your decision for the program
That doesn't give people time to make plans at all. :(
Did someone get the invite yet? A friend just got it, but I wonder if the send all of the invites at the same time.
Do your friend hear for the JP Morgan program? I got an invite from Barclays, but still haven't heard anything from JP Morgan.
Heard back for a phone interview with JPM
Congrats, when did you hear back for the BA Early Advantage Program? :)
What did the email say?
Guess I didn't get it then. Congrats!
how did they notify you about getting a phone interview? is this for the new York location?
Maybe it's rolling, but it probably isn't....
Congrats hkwildcat and let us know how everything goes for you! :)
Got my notification for this in April last year.... not sure how similar the timelines are.
Thanks! It seems that people have already been notified though. :(
If you don't mind me asking, did you have a interview for the program or were you automatically invited?
the jp event is april first though
It's 14-15 April I'm pretty sure
Does anyone know what the interview is like?
Interviews are today I think
Anyone hear back today from JPM for an interview?
My interview was super hard
that stinks, i wonder why they interview for a 2 day program. hopefully the selection process isn't over
what kind of questions did they ask?
Thanks for the update! Good luck and I'm sure you'll be great.
Got the interview email yesterday :)
That's great! JPM Chase or Barclays?
Tricky behaviorals, and technicals similar to what you would get for an ib interview ...no joke. I was asked about debt, equity and stuff like that. 2300 applied to this only 300 got an interview
Are you talking about JP Morgan? My interview was nothing like that. And how do you know?
did the phone interview....structured basic questions( only a few tech questions) ...
has anyone that has had their interview heard back yet?
Has anyone got word from JPM about getting in or not? At this point I suppose they are done with the interviews...
Just got the invite. See you in New York!
I just got invited for their event in Dallas! Is there anybody else going to their TX office?
JPM Early Advantage Preparation (Originally Posted: 04/18/2016)
Hey guys. I will be going to JPM's Early Advantage program later on this week. Coming from a non-target with nothing but a high GPA and little experience, this is a very big break for me.
How can someone in my situation prepare themselves to be able to convert this 2 day event into a potential internship? I have read numerous articles on networking and being a "leader". I have been following markets closely recently as well. Should there be any other things I should be focusing on?
Know the major deals that are going on, especially the ones that JPM is advising on.
Other than that, your main goal should be to collect as much contact info as possible. It's unlikely that anyone will remember you from just the event, but if you follow up, you'll definitely stand out, and this is what'll get you the interview when it's recruiting season
