Prepare and dress as if it is an interview. Do not go deep into the technicals though, but be sure to know what you are talking about as this is a potential point to skip HR and go straight to an interview.
You should be able to sell yourself and your experience and come across as a chill person. Visualise what you want to achieve in the short and long-term. It helps if you already have experience and can relate your experience to specific questions you want to ask him.
I cannot tell you what you need to ask him as it should come natural from you and from the conversation. Very pre-cooked questions do not work well in my opinion, just ask things in which you are genuinely interested. Probably a thing you are interested in: what does it take to be a good analyst/intern at your firm and how do I qualify myself?
Definitely agree. MD might be a good way to surpass HR and make it straight to superday. Be professional, and don't get into the weeds of finance. Definitely know answers to why the firm, why the division. If you get weave anything from his or her linkedin interest (volunteering, sport fan etc) do that. If they like you, they can easily forward your resume. Also at the end of, send a thank you email the following day and ask them if can connect you to another person in the firm.
